Skiing was brought to Kiandra by Scandinavian miners during the gold rush. The first documented evidence of skiing at Kiandra appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald in the winter of 1861, though it is possible it may have first occurred during the initial gold rush winter of 1860. It has been suggested that a social ski club was in existence from as early as May 1861. |
